, I live in a beautiful part of the country, in Somerset, surrounded by nature and feel very grateful to be here. I find happiness walking in nature, exploring new places, Georgian and Victorian architecture as well as my daily meditation practice.
I had my first experience of meditation over thirty years ago but didn’t peruse it properly until 2003 when I joined a meditation group in Dorset. I worked with the same group and my teacher for fourteen years, deepening my practice and understanding of meditation and myself. During that time I had profound insights, experiences of opening and healing.
In 2009 I did a three year diploma in Human Potential Coaching with Dr Mark Atkinson. The first six months of the course were about personal development and included daily meditation practice. I qualified in 2012 and did some work as a life coach but although the course had been life changing, for me, in many ways, it wasn’t where my heart was. I continued to work as a manager in a health store until 2016 which I really enjoyed, but had a feeling that it wasn’t my true life path anymore.
In 2016 I joined the Spiritual Companions Trust and did a diploma in Practical Spirituality and Wellness. This once again included a daily meditation practice. During this year my mother and father both passed away unexpectedly and I became overwhelmed with grief and suffered with anxiety and depression for a while. My daily sitting meditation practice, loving kindness meditations and walking meditation helped me release the grief and move passed it.
I also have a teaching diploma with the British School of Meditation.

It is often the case that the darkest nights can bring forth the courage to help you move away from something you have outgrown onto a new life path so while I was in the grip of the mental health episode I decided it was time to leave my job of thirteen years and follow my hearts desire, which was to teach. I set up my own business teaching meditation in 2018 and absolutely love it.
My teaching, although not religious, is based in Buddhist psychology. I honour the origins of mindfulness. |
I have a daily meditation practice myself and I am constantly surprised at the many ways it benefits me. I am happier and more fulfilled than I have ever been. I feel excited by life and experience joy frequently, from the simplest of things, even though I still have the same human challenges we all experience from time to time in life.
