Everyone can meditate it is a skill anyone can learn.
Most religions have practised meditation for over 5000 years. There is some evidence of contemplation seen in cave paintings, but it doesn't necessarily need to be religious. Meditation is simply a tool to bring your mind back to a place of awareness.

It is a technique with which to uncover all the layers of hope, fear, and judgement that are all strong habits which cloud the mind.
When you begin to practice mindful meditation it is done at a secular level, then as the practice deepens it progresses into a spiritual journey. One of connection to your inner personality, to nature and the beauty and wonder of life.

Mindfulness meditation helps you to sift through all the information you are bombarded with every minute of every day. It helps you discern the wisdom from the nonsense. With more distractions at your fingertips than ever before focused attention is becoming a thing of the past. Our brains are not designed to multitask. Most of us, sometimes feel overwhelmed by the amount of things we need to think about on a day to day basis.

When we practice making a shift from over doing and excessive thinking, to being still and centred we can discover how to align our self with a deeper meaning and purpose in life.
Through the regular practice of meditation we discover the real happiness of simplicity, connection and presence. We don’t meditate to get better at meditation, we meditate to get better at life.

Scientists are now able to show meditation has many benefits to health and well being. There are over 4,000 studies done by neuroscientists using Magnetic Resonance Imaging, EEG (electroencephalography) and regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF), showing the physical changes in the brain.

“I envision a day when mental exercise will be as much a part of our daily lives as physical exercise and personal hygiene”

Richard Davidson - Neuroscientist, founder and director of center for healthy minds at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
