I believe spirituality is vital for our wellbeing.

My awareness of my spirituality started when I was suddenly left widowed at the age of 25. I started to deeply question the difference between life and death. It seemed incomprehensible to me that life could be snuffed out like a candle. I asked questions like “Where do we go when we die?” and “Where was I before I was born?” I needed to make sense of my life I needed to find new meaning to it. I was left wondering who I was and what the purpose of life was.

This can be a natural part of the grief process but for me it opened up a whole new way of being. The next sixteen years took me through many life challenges. I didn’t have a clue what I wanted from life. I read many self help books and joined in lots of inspirational workshops. Once I realised that true happiness comes from the inside not from material things, I took up meditation and started to really get to know myself.
I started tuning in to what felt right and what didn’t feel comfortable deep inside. I did a human potential coaching course which helped me to sort out my values. It became increasingly important for me to live within those values.

Healing the wounds from my past, with support and guidance, has been a huge part of my process. I needed to share my deepest inner thoughts and feelings with someone who could listen and be present. Holding space for me to allow wisdom, I didn’t know I had, to come forward so I could get clarity on my deepest desires.

Spirituality is a natural quality of being human.  It’s a feeling deep inside you, at the core, that you cannot explain in words. It has depth, power and strength. It’s about connection from the heart. It’s knowing that there is more to life than material things.  It is a need to remain in rhythm with your inner voice and longing, a deeper more sacred connection to yourself. It is becoming involved in the beautiful and challenging spiritual work of learning to love yourself.

Inner peace and lasting happiness require us to stay connected to our inner self. This requires awareness, stillness and quiet times. Qualities that in the modern world are lacking in most people’s lives. However when we can align ourselves with our true longing and desires, life becomes an exciting adventure full of possibilities.
My personal growth and spirituality give meaning and purpose to my life.
So what it is that has makes me happier on a day to day basis?
I know how I connect to the wonder and energy of life.
I am less reactive to everyday situations, I try not to compare myself and my life to others, every person has their own journey. I discovered what I really wanted my life to look like, not what I thought it should like. Self acceptance and learning to be kind to myself (this was a biggie). I also practice gratitude regularly
